Usher Accuser Increases Herpes Lawsuit To $40 Million After Testing Positive
The woman suing Usher for allegedly hiding his herpes
diagnosis from her before they had unprotected sex has reportedly increased her
lawsuit from $10 million to $40 million after testing positive for the STD.
As Gossip Cop reported, Usher was sued last week by a plaintiff identified as “Jane Doe,” who alleges the
singer exposed her to herpes without her knowledge when they had sex earlier
this year. The plaintiff claims she wouldn’t have slept with Usher had she known
he was carrying the virus. Doe’s legal filing was sparked after the National
Enquirer and RadarOnline revealed last week that the musician settled a
$1.1 million lawsuit in 2012 after allegedly infecting a woman with the disease.
The plaintiff in the latest case says she only discovered Usher’s diagnosis as a
result of the media coverage.
Doe was initially seeking $10 million in damages for negligence, emotional
distress and battery, fearing she had been “exposed” to the disease, but TMZ
said on Monday that the plaintiff has upped her complaint to $40 million after
testing positive for the STD. The woman reportedly got tested immediately after
hearing reports about Usher having herpes simplex 2, and was told she’s carrying
the disease as well. Doe is now seeking $20 million for emotional distress and
medical bills, plus an additional $20 million in punitive damages. It should be
noted, Usher has been married to his longtime girlfriend and manager Grace
Miguel since September 2015. Gossip Cop has reached out to a
rep for Usher, but we’re waiting to hear back.
