EbonyLife Films’ Adaptation of “Death and the King’s Horseman” Will Premiere at 2022 Toronto International Film Festival

“Elesin Oba, The King’s Horseman,” is set to make its international debut at the Toronto International Fulm Festival(TIFF) in September 2022. The movie produced by EbonyLife Film and Netflix is based on true events that occurred in Nigeria in the year 1943. It will be the first Yoruba movie to be included in the coveted special presentation category.

“Elesin Oba” was Written and directed by Biyi Bandele. It features top Nigerian movie stars Odunlade Adekola, Shaffy Bello, Deyemi Okanlawon, Omowunmi Dada, and veteran actors, Jide Kosoko and Kevin Ushi. Also featured are Jenny Stead and Mark Elderkin as Jane and Simon Pilkings, Langley Kirkwood, and a special appearance by acting legend Taiwo Ajai-Lycett and Ajoke Silva. 

The movie “Death and the King’s Horseman”was originally a play written by Wole Soyinka, and it’s the first time one of his  literary works will be adapted for the big screen.
