Video: Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About Oscars Slap, Says Her ‘Deepest Hope’ is for Will Smith and Chris Rock to Reconcile

Jada Pinkett Smith addressed the Will Smith-Chris Rock Oscars slap on the latest episode of Red Table Talk.

At the start of Wednesday’s episode, Jada said into the camera, “Now about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile,” Pinkett Smith said. “The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening,” she ended.

The episode tackles the impact of alopecia, a condition Jada has openly struggled with. Just two months ago, Will Smith took the Oscars stage and slapped Chris Rock after the comedian joked about Jada’s shaved head.

The Academy banned Smith for 10 years following the slap.
