Trailer carrying dead bodies involved in crash in Braamfontein

Johannesburg Metro Police have confirmed a trailer carrying more than two dozen bodies from one state hospital to another in Johannesburg has been involved in a crash on the M1 south in Braamfontein.

Details around the accident are not clear and the Gauteng Health Department has sent officials to the scene.

It’s believed the van was travelling from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital at the time of the crash.

JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar said: “Dead bodies landed onto the freeway when what appears to be an undertaker, transporting them on a trailer, was involved in an accident. They have now been put back on a trailer for it to be taken off the freeway.”
