Introduction of Free SHS was not for Politics - President Akufo Addo
The Introduction of the free Senior High School policy in Ghana was
not motivated by political gain but was to ensure that every Ghanaian
child gets the opportunity to further their education beyond Junior High
School, President Akufo Addo has observed.
Addressing the Bawku
Naba Asigri Abugrago II and a host of other chiefs from the Bawku
traditional area when they called on him at the Flag Staff House, President
Akufo Addo said the focus of the free SHS policy should be a good
reason for the chiefs and traditional leadership of Ghana to give it
their full support for it to succeed.
Challenges of the Free SHS Programme
President Akufo Addo in his speech admitted that there are challenges with the free SHS Programme such as inadequate number of classrooms, dormitories and science labs. However, he said that everything new has problems and the issues of infrastructure will be speedily addressed by government to ensure that the policy continues for the benefit of the youth of Ghanaian.
Bawku Naba
In a speech read on his behalf, the Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago II pledged his undivided attention for the Free SHS Programme and assured the President that traditional leaders of Bawku will offer their constant support to the policy.
