Michael Blackson invites Tyler Perry to build a film studio in Ghana

American-based Ghanian actor and comedian, Michael Blackson, has called on movie producer and screenwriter, Tyler Perry, to partner with him on a film studio in Ghana.

According to Mr Blackson, he will acquire the land for Mr Perry to build on.

Blackson, who has become a regular visitor to his homeland in the last few years, and sees the potential in the country, is calling on American investors to make the trip and take a chance on several projects.

“Hey @tylerperry let’s go half on a film studio in Ghana, I’ll get the land and you build the studio,” he tweeted at Tyler Perry on Wednesday, February, 16.

Although Tyler Perry is yet to respond to this invitation, a lot of followers who have seen the tweet, agree that this could be a big win for Ghana’s “struggling” movie industry.

In 2019, Tyler Perry commissioned a 330-acre lot in the heart of Atlanta on the historic grounds of the former Fort McPherson army base. The major motion picture studio, one of the largest production facilities in the country, showcases forty buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, twelve purpose-built sound stages, 200 acres of greenspace and a diverse backlot.

Tyler Perry Studios Fort McPherson is the fourth expansion in the lineage of the writer, actor, producer, director, and philanthropist’s creative empire.

Meanwhile, in Ghana, Kumawood actress Mercy Asiedu, has acquired land for the development of a film village through the support of her husband, Nana Nana Agyemang Badu Duah I, a Chief of Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South District in the Ashanti Region.
