2021 NSMQ: Prempeh College presents trophy to Akufo-Addo

A delegation from the 2021 National Maths and Science Quiz, has paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.

The visit, which took place on Thursday, was to afford the winning school, Prempeh College, an opportunity to officially inform the President about their victory and present the trophy to him.

Among the delegation were; school authorities, members of the production team and the Quiz Mistress, Prof. Elsie Kaufmann.

Sharing pictures of their interaction on social media, President Akufo-Addo wrote, “on Thursday, 6th January, 2022, the winners of the 2021 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz competition, Prempeh College, were at Jubilee House, the seat of the nation’s presidency, in the company of the 2nd President of the 4th Republic, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, to present the trophy to me.”

2021 NSMQ finale

The Amanfoo Boys on November 26, came face to face with six-time champions, Presec-Legon and Keta SHTS at the grand finale of this year’s NSMQ contest.

The race, right from the beginning of the first round saw a keen and stiff competition by all the three schools as they locked horns and went neck to neck for the first position.

Although Prempeh College won, it was a super tough five rounds for all three schools.

The True or False round had the ‘Dzolalians’ substituting Francisca Lamini with James Lutterodt. Presec equally made a substitution for Joel Aboagye to take over from Henry Otumfuo.

Although they did not make any substitution, Prempeh had almost all their answers right in the fourth round.

Prempeh College’s Evans Oppong ‘magically’ kept his cool to conveniently respond to the questions correctly.

The highly-anticipated race was finally decided in the last round where the boys from the ‘University of Sofoline’ proved their mettle to defeat the Presecans.

The ‘host and win agenda’ finally became a reality when the ‘Seniors’ floored the Odadie boys with outstanding brilliance.

At the end of the contest, Prempeh College amassed 53 points while Presec-Legon accumulated 49 points with Ketasco managing 30 points.
