Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Ended Relationship With Alex Rodriguez Because She Could Not Fully ‘Trust Him’

Jennifer Lopez reportedly ended her relationship with Alex Rodriguez because she could not fully “trust” him.

The former couple has been in the headlines for some time now after reports emerged that the two were calling it quits. Last week, the two confirmed their split when they announced they were no longer engaged. According to sources, Lopez was the party who ultimately made the decision.

“She insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved,” said a friend of Lopez’s. The source went on to say that Lopez could not completely “trust” Rodriguez, People reports. “She has been pretty miserable,” said the friend, “and didn’t think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex.”

The two seemed to be in a happy place, as they were seen together earlier this year at Joe Biden’s inauguration. “They both liked spending more time together as a family, but it was difficult to keep that special spark when they saw each other every day,” another insider said. The two had planned a wedding, but it had to be canceled due to the ongoing pandemic.

The breakup came down to cheating rumors, reportedly. But, sources say that wasn’t the cause of their departure from the relationship. However, “whether or not he has cheated doesn’t matter,” said a music source. “[Lopez] won’t tolerate the fear of it in the air between them.”

Breakups are never easy, and the sources said it was tough on their children. “They’re especially sad for the kids since they are all so close,” said the source. “It’s not a good situation but inevitable.” In the meantime, Lopez is pushing forward. “Jennifer has been in these difficult situations before. She is not one to sit around and cry,” said the friend of Lopez. “Her kids make her the happiest. She is doing well.”
