Latin America's richest man, Carlos Slim, tests positive for COVID-19

Latin America's richest man, Carlos Slim has tested positive for Covid-19.

The 80-year-old Mexican telecommunications billionaire visited the National Institute of Nutrition for clinical analysis, monitoring, and treatment in a preventative manner, his son, businessman Carlos Slim Domit said on Twitter.

"He's very well and has had a very favorable development after more than a week of minor symptoms," Slim Domit said.

It comes a day after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, 67, also contracted the disease.

The tycoon and his family, control Mexico's largest telecoms provider America Movil, whose operations include mobile and fixed-line voice services, wireless and fixed-data services, internet access, and pay television.

Slim is the wealthiest man in Mexico and sits at No. 12 on the Forbes' Richest List with a net worth estimated at US$59 billion.
