Disney will not recast Chadwick Boseman's 'T’Challa' role in ‘Black Panther 2′ after his death

Disney has announced that 'T'Challa', the role played by the late Chadwick Boseman in 2018’s hit movie “Black Panther” will not be recast in Black panther 2 as a sign of respect to the late star.

Boseman died on 22 August 2020 after secretly battling Colon cancer. He was married but had no children.

Boseman is best known for playing T’Challa/Black Panther in 2018 film “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” and 2019′s “Avengers” Endgame.”

“Black Panther” became the first superhero movie to be nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards. It grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide.

The superhero movie will now go ahead without the T'Challa character.

“Black Panther 2, opening July 8, 2022, is being written & directed by Ryan Coogler,” Disney's Marvel's studios tweeted.

“Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa, @MarvelStudios will not recast the character, but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.”
