I’ve no hard feelings towards Sark, Samini over Akufo-Addo endorsement – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has said he does not hold anything against musicians Sarkodie and Samini for endorsing his main opponent President Akufo-Addo in the upcoming elections.

He believes they have their reasons for throwing their weight behind the NPP flagbearer, which he does not have a problem with.

His comments come in response to a question posed by Morning Starr show host Francis Abban following Monday’s endorsement of the NPP by the highly-acclaimed musicians.

Both acts released songs translating into a call for Ghanaians to retain the NPP in power.

But Mr Mahama who was a guest on the show said: “I don’t have any antipathy or anger with anybody who endorses Nana Addo, that’s their decision.”

On the Sarkodie-Samini endorsement, he said “I like them, they are young talented musicians and my attitude towards them doesn’t change. Samini has been somebody that I liked; his music, ‘Linda’ and all that. We all loved those music, and so if he’s endorsed Nana Addo, he must have his reasons for doing that.”

“It doesn’t change my attitude towards him,” he added.

Mr Mahama, however, said he is not encouraging the support of his campaign by celebrities due to antipathy they may suffer from supporters of other parties. This he believes may stifle their career growth.
