Davido’s ‘A Good Time’ album scores over 1 billion streams on all platforms

Sensational Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Davido, has officially reached over a billion streams on all digital platforms with his album, “A Good Time”. This was revealed by the Columbia Records United Kingdom. The album has garnered so much accolade in less than a year after its release.

Earlier this year, just three months of its release, the album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa, and in February two singles on the album; “Blow My Mind” and “Risky” were certified platinum in the United States. “Risky” went double platinum.

The 17-track album which is Davido’s second was released on November 22, 2019, through Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), RCA Records and Sony Music.

The album features guest artists like Naira Marley, Dremo, Peruzzi, Popcaan, Zlatan, Yonda, Wurld, Chris Brown, Summer Walker, Gunna, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Davido’s hit single “Fall” was one of the top-100-most-Shazam-searched singles in America in January 2019. In February 2019, it became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history. The music video for “Fall” reportedly stands at 174 million views on YouTube, the most for any Nigerian music video.

The visibility and presence of African artistes have gained popularity since streaming services have become easily accessible. Earlier this year, Billboard dedicated its newest special issue to Africa, celebrating the vibrant and rhythmic beats that the continent produces. Davido, Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi were on the cover of the special edition.
