Bill Cosby Wins The Right To Appeal 2018 Sexual Assault Conviction

The Pennsylvania Supreme court has granted Bill Cosby the right to appeal his 2018 sexual assault conviction.

Pennsylvania’s highest court has agreed to review two aspects of Cosby’s case: the judge’s decision to let prosecutors call other accusers to testify against him in the case, highlighting ”prior bad acts” to allegedly show a pattern of sexual assault, as well as the prosecutor’s decision to hold off on charges over a decade ago, CNN reports.

The Supreme Court will also be reviewing an agreement Cosby had with a former prosecutor that claimed he would never be tried in the case. Cosby relied on this agreement with former prosecutor Bruce Castor before agreeing to the deposition in the accuser’s lawsuit, in which he admitted to procuring quaaludes.

Cosby, 82, has been imprisoned for nearly two years, currently serving a sentence of 3-10 years after being convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Costand in 2004.

“As we have stated, the false conviction of Bill Cosby is so much bigger than him- it’s about the destruction of ALL Black people and people of color in America,” spokesman Andrew Wyatt said in a statement on Tuesday.
