Coronoavarius: Ghana records 7th confirmed Coronavirus case

The number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to 7.

A tweet by the Disease Surveillance Dept of the Ghana Health Service confirming the case said it was recorded at 3.00pm in the Greater Accra region on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

"This afternoon (17 March 2020); we have received report from NMIMR that indicated one (1) more confirmed case as positive for COVID-19 in Greater Accra Region," the tweet said.


 Background

 Ghana announced its first two cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on March 12, 2020. Ghana's Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said the two cases were confirmed Thursday, March 12, 2020.

The confirmed cases of the Coronavirus increased to a total of six on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Badu Sarkodie said the four new cases like the previous two announced last Thursday were imported into Ghana.

He said all the patients were in stable condition and did not show symptoms at arrival at the ports.
