#InspirationalChat: How A Blogger Changed My Life - A Tribute To Linda Ikeji...

Linda Ifeoma Ikeji a.k.a Linda Ikeji is a woman that needs no introduction. By 2006, she was well on her way to conquering the online publishing space with her ground shaking blog, LindaIkejisblog.com.

While blogging may be a normal concept in 2019, back then blogging was not considered a ‘suitable’ career choice for most Africans. This infamous blogger has transformed the way Africans, specifically, Nigerians consume entertainment news and has forever imprinted the Nigerian media ecosystem.

For both admirers and critics alike, there’s no taking away from her success. She went into blogging when it was still pretty much an unknown in Nigeria not many people knew about it and those who actually did wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole in a gloved hand now blogging has helped her build her fortune worth billions and she is certainly living her best life.

I admire this Linda Ikeji lady a lot from afar. I discovered her blog in 2014 which was the most talked about blog in Nigeria so I visited the blog to read news from there and got obsessed with it and I told myself, let me also try and create a blog but before I discovered lindaikejisblog, I was and still ardent reader of Ghanaian top blogger Ameyawdebrah.com and also Ghanacelebrities.com for entertainment news and lifestyle.

I started my blog Donkorsblog.com in 2016. I was posting news and entertainment stories on my blog. Later, I developed a lifestyle and young entrepreneurs’ interview content on the blog after I had been nominated and won Best Inspirational Blogger for 2017 and 2018 form West Africa Bloggers Award.

According to Linda Ikeji, it took her four years before she realized it was possible to make money from it.

She never give up because her passion for blogging kept her going. According to her, she had a business named ‘Black book communications’, which was her source of livelihood.

She states and I quote her:

“I didn’t think that blogging would make me money. Blogging was born out of passion, it was what I always wanted to do growing up. What kept me going were the comments I read and the people who were eagerly waiting to read new gossip news on my blog. It kept growing gradually from 20k to 30k visits and it was very exciting. It kept me going.  Then the next thing was when I was asked to send rate cards for adverts!”

After watching videos and reading some articles about Linda Ikeji talking about her struggles and success about her blogging, I pick some few words from her and told myself if she can do it why not me. She started with nothing and now little by little now richest blogger in Africa.

In 2017, it was thinking of traveling to Nigeria, Lagos to look for her and have an interview with but I closed my mind on it and said I will surely look for her one day. I went to her Instagram page and sent a message about how I really liked her and admire her and wanted to come to Nigeria, Lagos to look for her but she didn’t reply me so I closed my mind on it.

Fortunately during the 2019 Ghana Bloggers Summit in Ghana held in Accra, she was announced as the main speaker with Ghana Information Minister Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. After hearing the news I was so happy to meet her at the summit and lo and behold finally met her. I was happy to shake hands with her and was excited to see her in person.

Never give up on what you are doing, start small, have patience, be consistent and pray. Your Blessing and Win are on the way coming.

Salute!
