Details of Meghan Markle's guest editor role at Vogue revealed

Details of Meghan Markle's role as guest editor for British Vogue's September edition have been revealed.

The Duchess of Sussex will add a humanitarian touch to the iconic fashion magazine, focusing on her favourite charities, the environment and women issues.

British Vogue Editor, Edward Enninful, managed to convince the Duchess to take on the honourable role, where she will also give an exclusive interview and be photographed for a lareg spread in the magazine.

Editor-in-chief of Vogue, Dame Anna Wintour, had been trying to win Meghan over to her side but the Duchess has chosen to go local and opted for the British edition instead.

Emails were exchanged back and forth between Vogue's West End offices and the Sussex's Windsor residence, Frogmore Cottage in the build up to the news, according to the Daily Mail

This comes after the Duchess reportedly opted out of a cover page photo as she wanted to focus "purely on women's empowerment".

She also refused to include a family album with photos of her husband Prince Harry and her son Archie as she would rather steer attention away from her personal life and focus on pressing issues.

A source told the Sun in June: "Meghan is going to write a piece on causes such as female empowerment and women’s education.

"Edward has been courting her since day one. Anna is massively miffed that she’s missed out.

"This is nothing to do with Archie, or family, or home life. It’s purely on women’s empowerment."

In June, the Duchess was named as one of Vogue's 25 Most Influential Women of 2019, described as being "revolutionary" over how she handled the birth of her son, Archie.

They added: “With her patronage of Smart Works, she combines her interest in fashion with her desire to support women’s careers, while the quietly revolutionary decision she and Prince Harry took to keep their child’s birth private echoes the commitment to wellness she was known for prior to her new life, as well as her feminist ideals.”
