Woman arrested for pouring hot soup on police

Police in Assin Praso have arrested a woman who poured hot soup on some police officers at Assin Dansame.

Six additional suspects were also arrested in connection with the same incident and have all been arraigned.

“Seven individuals have been arrested in all to reappear in court on June 21,” DSP Irene Oppong said to Citi News.

The seven suspects have been remanded by the court into prison custody to reappear on June 21, 2019.

Mawutor Dashiku, the woman alleged to have poured the hot soup, was caught up in the confusion when some irate youth at Assin Dansame in the Central Region attacked the Breman Asikuma Police Station after a suspect died after an arrest.

The suspect had complained of dizziness and later died after being rushed to the Asikuma hospital for treatment, according to police.

The arrest was made after police conducted a swoop at a place in a coconut plantation at Mbra street at Asikuma which is a suspected hideout for criminals

It is unclear how the news spread but infuriated town folk who besieged the Asikuma Police station agitating and demanding for the release of the two whiles pelting stones at the Police Officers.
