Lucy Quist releases new book titled ‘The Bold New Normal’

Former Chief Executive Officer of Telecommunications Company, Airtel Madam Lucy Quist has launched her maiden book titled “The Bold New Normal”.

The book which centres more on advising the youth to take bold steps also talks about how Africa, although rich in its culture and reserves fail to use what it has to develop its Continent.

While speaking to the press after the launch, Madam Lucy Quist was hopeful the book will be a form of mentorship guide for the youth.

“The inspiration is the young people who asked me to share with them all that I have and my hope is that in reading this book, they will be inspired to create a prosperous Africa,” she stated.

She is hopeful the book will be the start of a change in the mindset of Africans.

“We need to be giving in everything that we have got to create a bold, new, different Africa because I can tell you that in my lifetime, the narrative, the story, the outlook  for Africa globally in terms of really looking at it objectively has not changed; if we don’t force that change it won’t change” she explained.

She further advised the youth not to become comfortable with current Africa but rather move away from such while focusing on how to get Africa to match up to the world.

Asked why she chose the title “The Bold New Normal” Madam Quist said “I said it should be called so because I was thinking of change, so what is your normal? Our normal is when we talk about corruption, so our normal is a package of negative things. And so for me talking about the new normal is about a package of great things to pass onto my children and the generation and in that conversation, it came about that actually to do this we need to be bold because the same thing has happened over and over again then; a new narrative and outlook requires boldness. We can’t just carry on timidly hoping that change will happen, it won’t.”

The launch saw a lot of dignitaries in attendance including General Manager of Citi FM and Citi TV, Bernard Avle, Market Head of Nestlé Pakistan, Freda Duplan, Legal Practitioner and partner at AB&David, David Ofosu Dorte, as well as former President of AngloGold Ashanti and renowned businessman, Sam Jonah who also doubles as the Chairman for the book launch.

Although Madam Lucy Quist has no plans of writing yet another book soon, she is keeping her options open to the thought.
