Watch: Naomi Osaka revealed what Serena Williams told her after the U.S. Open

Naomi Osaka defeated her idol, Serena Williams, in straight sets of the U.S. Open final. It was a match that had plenty of controversy with Serena being assessed a game penalty for arguing with the chair umpire.

As the match came to a close, Serena told the crowd to stop booing. At the time, Osaka was unsure if the crowd was booing her, but Serena told her that wasn't the case.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Osaka revealed what Serena whispered to her after that controversial final.

She told Ellen:

"She said that she was proud of me and that I should know that the crowd wasn't booing at me. So, I was really happy that she said that."

Later in the interview, Ellen posed for a selfie with Osaka and sent it to the 20-year-old's celebrity crush, Michael B. Jordan. And she got a new TV on top of that.
