Miss Universe Ghana 2018 launched
Malz Promotions, organizers of the prestigious Miss Universe pageant
has officially launched the 2018 edition of the beauty pageant. The
launch was held at the La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra on Thursday,
July 5. Present at the launch included Film Producer/Director Shirley
Frimpong Manso, who will serve as a judge this year and husband, Ken
Attoh.
The pageant, which is in its 26th season this year was taken over by
Malz Promotions under the supervision of Miss Universe Ghana 2004,
Menaye Donkor last year. In her second year of organizing the event
Menaye expressed her excitement for this year’s pageant.
“As Miss Universe Ghana 2004, a successful entrepreneur,
philanthropist and model, I am proud to be part of the Miss Universe
Ghana brand and help pave the way for other young Ghanaian women to
achieve their goals.” Menaye further added, that Malz Promotions under
her watch has rebranded the image of Miss Universe Ghana within a short
time and successfully organized a star studded finale during last year’s
competition.
This year’s pageant is in collaboration with the Multimedia Group and
under the auspices of Ministry of Tourism and the Ghana Tourism
Authority. Mr. Santoh Singh, Managing Director of the Multimedia Group
speaking at the press launch expressed his delight for partnering with
the organization and pushed for the need for Ghanaians to do away with
the notion that beautiful women cannot be intelligent.
“It’s time we eradicate the belief that beautiful women cannot be
intelligent. We support Miss Universe Ghana for what they stand for and
represent and it’s time we empower young women to live their dreams. The
plan is to rope in international standards of production to all stages
of the pageant, and prospectively encourage a positive vibe about Ghana
among governments an investors – particularly those in the tourism
industry, which is largely underdeveloped in Ghana”.
Menaye assured guests seated at the launch that this year’s pageant
will be bigger and better. Last year’s winner and reigning Queen, Ruth
Quarshie made it to the top 16 at the international stage in November
last year, Las Vegas – USA.
