US Rapper Lil Lonnie shot to death in Mississippi hometown
A local rapper died Sunday night after he was shot while driving, which caused
him to crash into a house, authorities said.
Lonnie Taylor, who was known as Lil
Lonnie, was driving on Montebello Drive just before 10:30 p.m. when someone
fired shots into the back of the car, authorities said.
The man, who the Hinds County corner identified as Taylor, was shot and
crashed into a house in the 2300 block of Montebellow Drive, police said.
Taylor, died at the scene, authorities said. A woman who was inside the car
was not hurt, police said.

Taylor, 22, first received national attention in 2015, with his song, "Colors." He was profiled in a 2016
article in the Jackson Free Press.
"I talk about street stuff because I am from the 'hood, but at the same time,
most of my music is more motivational," Taylor was quoted as saying in the JFP
article. "When you are coming from the 'hood, I want you to know (there are)
better things to do, better ways to be."
The newspaper reported that Taylor graduated from Callaway High School in
2013 and then attended Hinds Community College and Jackson State University.
No arrests have been made in the case. Anyone with information about the
