Ursula Owusu threatens to sue A-plus over ‘libelous’ comments

Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu has threatened to sue musician and sympathiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-plus if he fails to apologize for supposedly making defamatory comments about her on Facebook.

A-plus is alleged to have accused Ursula Owusu of being involved in a shady deal at the Communications Ministry in the wake of the Kwesi Nyantakyi scandal.

He is believed to have stated that “Kwesi Nyantakyi is only being sacrificed to cover up the 89/178 million dollars GVG Kelni Stinking scandal.”

Ursula Owusu Ekuful who did not take these comments lightly is demanding an immediate retraction and apology.

“We are instructed to notify you that our client takes a serious view of your defamatory publication on Facebook and would not hesitate to commence legal action against you if the said publication is not retracted on or before Friday 1st June 2018.

“We are also instructed to notify you to render an unqualified apology in the same medium and prominence in the manner that your libelous publication was done. Please be informed that if you fail to retract and apologize to our client in or before Friday 1st June 2018, we shall proceed to court to vindicate our client’s rights without any further recourse to you.”

This is not the first time A-plus has made allegations against government officials.

In September 2017, A-Plus took to Facebook to make some allegations against President Nana Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye and Abu Jinapor.

It later emerged that the accusations had to do with the two putting pressure on the CEO of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Felix Anyah, to back an on-site revenue-collection contract at the hospital to UniBank.

CHRAJ was later petitioned to investigate the case but cleared the two of any wrongdoing after its investigations.

A-plus subsequently issued an apology for his comments, saying his approach was wrong.
