Annette S. Yeboah writes: The world is beautiful but deadly
TRUE,
GOD made everything beautiful in itself and in its time, but He is
left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, so that we cannot
predict Him. It is unfortunate that most Christians have decided that there is nothing
better to do than go ahead and have fun and good time and get the most we can
out of life by engaging in the activities of darkness which only please the
devil.
God’s plan for
the world was to make it beautiful and sweet for mankind to have a peaceful
place to leave without worry, pain, sorrow, agony and anguish. But the sin of
mankind has made and turned the beautiful world into a deadly and ugly one.
Though it is
beautiful and the things in it are all nice, the earth has remained deadly for
the children of God who depend on the world to live.
The earth was
created for the children of God and God instructed His children to keep and
dominate it but the tables have turned and shifted into the hands of the sons
of darkness.
In the first book
of the bible, Genesis, its first chapter, from verse one to 26, it is recorded
that God created the things that he thinks mankind would need or depend on to
survive before He created man in verse 27.
God bless them
and said to them to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth and subdue it
using all its vast resources in the service of God and man. The dominion was
also over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air and over every living
creature that moves upon the earth.
Everything that
was created God saw it very pleasant because He approved it.
But mankind whom
God handed everything to could not be a good caretaker and cheaply handed it
over to the devil that had vowed but failed to overthrow God in heaven through
deception and lies.
Since man handed
the peaceful and harmonious world to the devil to rule, the world has suffered violence
as the once beautiful and holy world now abounds in sin, causing it to be
deadly.
All we have eyes on
is the fashionable god of darkness. We think he can give us what we want, and
that Christians don’t have to bother believing a truth they can’t see. They are
stone-blind to the dayspring brightness of the message that shines with Christ Jesus
who gives us the best picture of God we will ever get.
One of Paul’s
epistles to Christians in Romans chapter eight verse 22, he says, “All around
us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the
world are simply birth pangs. But it’s not only around us; it’s within us. The spirit
of God is arousing within us and we are also feeling the birth pangs”
(Amplified Bible).
It implies that
the world is in serious agony needing someone [Jesus Christ] to rescue it. The
cry of the children of God in prayer to God for a saviour was heard by God but
the wickedness of man caused him to refuse to accept and recognize Him as our
own as recorded in the book of John, chapter one verse 10.
In an era where
God has put in every corner of the world His appointed ones who bear His
message of warning to resist sin and darkness but no one wants to buy their
ticket, we are something everyone stands around and stares at like an accident
in the street.
It is time for
Christians to know that we are not part of this world. Therefore we cannot
associate ourselves with the kind of music, dance, movies, fashion and social
lives that some are practising. We should rather remain in the faith and belief
that the world is not as beautiful as it seems but ugly and deadly for us
Christians.
We should be like
the believers whose case is recorded in Hebrews chapter 11:13 that “these all
died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off,
and were persuaded of them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims
on the earth.” We need to hold on to the faith otherwise we would miss the
heavenly bliss that we hope for in eternity.
If Apostle Paul
and the others saw it and fought the good fight to overcome the world to win
the race, we too can make it in Jesus’ name.
But we should not
be conformed to this world as it has nothing better to offer us but rather be
transformed by renewing your mind, that you may prove what is good, acceptable
and the perfect will of God.
“Love not the
world, neither the things that are in the world for if any man loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him,” says I John 2:15. This verse is
admonishing us, Christians, to be wise concerning our crave for the things of
the world, particularly the pleasures and the subtleties such as knowledge that
deceives and can lead us to destruction. These pleasures and subtleties look
good but in terms of our spirituality, they are deadly and poisonous to our
spiritual uplift.
