Seal accused of sexual battery after calling out Oprah
Seal is reportedly under investigation for sexual battery after his former
neighbor, actress Tracey Birdsall, accused him of forcefully kissing and groping
her in 2016.
Birdsall told TMZ she was
neighbors with the singer in Los Angeles and they became friends, but one day in
the fall of 2016 when she went to retrieve her salad spinner, Seal forced
himself on her.
"What are you doing!?" Birdsall recalled shouting, to which the "Fly Like an
Eagle" singer responded: "I'm kissing you!"
Birdsall alleged Seal then belittled her about her outfit and said she was
asking for it because she was wearing a tank top and shorts.
She then claimed he began groping her breasts until she demanded he stop.
Birdsall told the gossip site she agreed to sit on the couch with Seal after
that because she was in shock, but then he continued to grope her breasts and
poke fun at her outfit
A source with the L.A. County
Sheriffs' Department told TMZ that a report was taken on Saturday concerning
Seal for sexual battery. The incident is under investigation.
A rep for the singer said in a statement to TMZ that he "vehemently denies
the recent allegations made against him by a former neighbor for alleged
misconduct more than a year ago."
"He intends to vigorously defend himself against these false allegations,"
the statement read.
On Wednesday, the "Crazy" artist took to Instagram to call out Oprah for
being a hypocrite because of her friendship with the disgraced film producer
Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused by dozens of women of sexual assault, and
even rape.
After the talk show host's fiery Golden Globes speech that built up
speculation she might run for president, Seal posted a meme to his page showing
Oprah in a photo with Weinstein.
The caption read, "When you have been part of the problem for decades, but
suddenly they all think you are the solution."
He later said it was "not an attack on Oprah at all."
"Let me start by saying that I have an enormous amount of respect for
everything that Oprah has achieved and contributed in her life," he wrote on
Facebook. "What I reposted was not an attack on Oprah at all. She just happened
to be the person photographed with the pig (Weinstein) in the picture.
No, what
I reposted was commentary on the hypocritical and double-standard nature and
behavior of Hollywood."
Seal was married to model Heidi Klum from 2005 and 2014. They have three
children together, Henry, 12, Johan, 11 and Lou, 8.
