Meghan Markle has reportedly chosen a maid of honour, breaking with British tradition

Meghan Markle has reportedly decided to forgo the British custom of choosing a chief bridesmaid and will instead have a maid of honor when she gets married to Prince Harry in a few months, sources have told Us Weekly.

The actress has not revealed who her maid of honor will be, but she has a lot of close female friends to choose from: She counts actress Priyanka Chopra, Suits costar Sarah Rafferty, and stylist Jessica Mulroney among her close friends. Last August she also posted a few Instagram pictures of her Northwestern classmate Lindsay Roth’s wedding, where she served as maid of honor and it is believed Roth could return the favor for Markle this May.

British brides usually choose unmarried friends and family to serve in their wedding party but it is believed Meghan, who is American might choose to go the American way and have her married friend in her wedding party.

Rumor also has it that Markle is hoping her mother, Doria Ragland, will walk her down the aisle instead of her father.
