Lead singer of South Korean boy band SHINee 'kills himself' with carbon monoxide
The lead singer of top South Korean boy band, SHINee, died in
hospital on Monday in a possible suicide attempt that shocked their fans
in the Asian continent.
Police reports indicated that Kim Jong-hyun, 27, was found
unconscious next to burning briquettes on a frying pan inside a serviced
residence in the South Korean capital Seoul.
A police official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the
sensitive subject, told Reuters: “His sister was first to call the
police assuming that he might commit suicide,” said the official.
Yonhap news agency also disclosed that the singer sent a final
message to his sister telling her: ‘It’s been too hard. Please send me
off. Tell everyone I’ve had a hard time. This is my last goodbye.’
However, the circumstances surrounding his death is still unclear,
but he's reported to have killed himself with carbon monoxide.
Kim was part of the five-member K-Pop boyband Shinee that had become
one of the country's most popular in recent years. He spent nearly a
decade in his leading role for the group.
The group released their debut album, The Shinee World, in 2008.
