Libya Slavery Saga, a Mockery of African Solitary - President Akufo Addo
President Akufo Addo has described as a "mockery of the message of
African solitary", the recent acts of slavery of various African
nationals by elements within Libya.
Addressing a joint press
conference held at the Freedom Monument at the Black Star Square as
part of the first ever visit of a French President to Ghana under the
theme: "Ghana and France 1957 - 2017, Moving Forward Together", President
Akufo Addo said the current barbaric slave auctions of Africans in
Libya is unacceptable and that Ghana stands with France and the rest of
the world to condemn the Libyan slave phenomenon.
The French President, Emmanuel Macron on his part said his message of
European unity and African unity ought to be lifted to the level that
will see Europe and Africa uniting to pursue common economic ambitions
for the two peoples of both continents.
Lighting the Perpetual Flame and Laying of Wreath
The two Heads of State together laid a common wreath at the foot of the unknown soldier and went ahead to light the Perpetual Flame on the cenotaph at Independence Square to signify the beaconing of hope, freedom, justice and peace for both countries as well as the long and enduring relationship between Ghana and France.
