Shirley Frimpong – Manso hunt for new talent
Celebrated Ghanaian filmmaker and founder/ CEO of Sparrow Productions
–Shirley Frimpong – Manso, is on the hunt for the next big actor in
Ghana.
Dubbed “Next Screen Star”, the programme is “an acting talent
development program with its sole purpose to unearth and create
professional director’s actors”, according to an official statement.
Happening over five weeks, the event is in three parts: an acting
workshop session, a grand audition session, as well as a film production
session. Applications close on September 30.
Born in 1977 hin Kwass, Shirley has written and directed several Ghanaian classics including Life and Living it (2009), A Sting in A Tale (2009), Checkmate (2010), Potomanto (2013), Grey Dawn (2015), Rebecca (2016), among others.
She’s also worked on a number of widely-received productions for TV
as Adams Apples (2011 – 2013) and V Republic (2014). A multiple
award-winner, Shirley is alumnus of the National Film and Television
Institute (NAFTI), and is married to business partner Ken Attoh.
