Queen Elizabeth’s daughter Princess Anne visits Ghana today

The daughter of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, will be in Ghana today on a two-day visit.

A statement from Buckingham Palace Princess Anne has a fondness for Ghana, having visited three times in the past ten years.

The visit will likely revolve around the strengthening of relations between the UK and the Commonwealth, of which Ghana is a member.

Princess Anne’s last visited Ghana in 2011 where she undertook a series of engagements to promote and celebrate bilateral relationships.

The news of Anne’s visit to West Africa comes after it was revealed that she is the hardest working royal of 2017 so far.

Having worked a total of 44 days since the start of the year, Anne has currently undertaken around a quarter of The Royal Family’s entire workload.

Ghana is one of the few countries being visited in 2017 outside of Europe.

The statement added that the visit “will also reinforce the strength and depth of our bilateral relations. Ghana is marking its 60th Anniversary with themes of reflection, celebration, challenge and togetherness. Its partnership with the UK embodies just that – built on deep social and cultural ties and a shared future.”

The Princess Royal is expected to meet a number of dignitaries including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II at the Royal Palace in Kumasi and former President Kufuor.

Her visit comes after similar ones by former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair and Britain’s Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson.
