‘Killer’ Grabbed With Weapons And Mask

The Accra Regional Police have arrested a 43-year-old land guard at Amamoley in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra region for allegedly possessing a number of powerful rifles, machetes, ammunition magazines and facial masks.

The suspect, identified as Charles Donkor aka Killer, reportedly concealed the items in a bag in his room.

Information gathered indicates that he often supplies the deadly weapons to armed robbers and other land guards for their operations for a fee.

This is the second time Killer is said to have been arrested for dealing in firearms.

Police reports indicate that he was grabbed in 2013 for the same offence.

He was later fined by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Briefing the media, the Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga, said Charles Donkor was arrested with the weapons, including the live ammunition at about 11:30 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

He said the Regional Police Command, acting upon intelligence, embarked on an operation which lasted for about three hours at the abode of the suspect at Amamoley, near Pokuase. 

Items retrieved included an AK 47 assault rifle, a SMG rifle, two AK 47 magazines, two G3 magazines, 48 G3 empty shells, 188 rounds of G3 ammunition, 77 rounds of AK 47 ammunition, 13 machetes, 72 rounds of pistol ammunition, three facial masks, two hammers and two screw drivers.

According to ACP Yoosa Bonga, investigations revealed that the suspect, who is a dealer of the weapons, gives them out to hardened armed robbers and land guards for their criminal operations.

Previous Arrest

Donkor, a former land guard, was said to have been arrested on October 31, 2013 for committing the same offence.

A search conducted in his room by the police led to the retrieval of one revolver pistol, one pump action gun and 29 rounds of live ammunition.

He was tried at the law court and sentenced to a fine for possessing arms and ammunition without authority. 

ACP Bonga assured the public that the police would protect the citizenry against the nefarious activities of criminals.

He said the police were ready to smoke out any person or group of people in possession of such illicit weapons.
