Girl, 5, needs $10,000 for eye surgery

Family of a five-year-old girl Ohemaa Abena Asantewaa in Kumasi in the Ashanti region is seeking financial support from corporate institutions and philanthropists across the country to enable their daughter undergo eye surgery in Texas, the United States of America (USA).

Asantewaa needs at least 10,000 dollars to enable her undergo treatment.

According to Doctors, a tumor in Asantewaa’s eye is worsening and is likely to affect her brain, if not treated immediately.

The family is appealing to the public to help them raise the said amount to enable them fly Asantewaa to the US for treatment.

 Parents of Asantewaa who are local farmers say their income is not enough to sponsor her medical bills.

Asantewaa has been battling with the eye tumor for the past five years with several surgeries at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi but to no avail.

Asantewaa is unable to look at the light or sun and also finds it difficult to eat or sleep, a situation her parents describe as unfortunate and causing a lot of distress to them.

Rev. Alexander Sowah, who spoke on behalf of Asantewaa’s family in an interview with Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice called on Ghanaians to come to the aid of Asantewaa so she can get her life back on track.
